Scope And Content Part of the correspondence of Lord John George Beresford, Archbishop of Armagh, relating to T.C.D. and education in Ireland, selected by Dean W.P. Carmody of Down. Incorproates TCD MSS 2180, 2200, 2205 and 2213. The period covers 1799-1859; the items are numbered 1-879; they are briefly calendared and there is an index of correspondents. .
Custodial History Presented by Dean W.P. Carmody of Down at intervals between ?1925 and ?1938 (see his own letters, included). Found in 1950 in a desk in the S.E. Room off the corridor under the 1937 Reading Room in what had presumably been the desk of E.A. Phelps, mixed up with the Erck MSS with which the correspondence now shares a single series of numbers. (Erck: 174 items 1886-1906, deriving from James Caillard Erck's work for the Irish Ecclesiastical Committee and his transcripts made for the Record Commissioners.).
